LaMar’s Donuts donates $2,100 to Salvation Army for Colorado and Oklahoma assistance.

Tradition of Donuts, Charity Aid Salvation Army Causes

DENVER (Oct. 8, 2013) – LaMar’s Donuts today announced that it will donate  $2,100 to the Salvation Army to aid in relief efforts for the Oklahoma tornadoes in May and this summer’s Colorado wildfires. The contribution comes from National Donut Day in June, when LaMar’s pledged a portion of sales proceeds from the event.

National Donut Day is a tradition begun in 1917, when women Salvation Army volunteers known as “Lassies” made donuts for soldiers on the front lines of World War I.

On National Donut Day, LaMar’s customers also donated $1,940 through in-store kettles, which will be used to provide general social services in the communities of participating shops.

“We know that it’s about more than just making the best donuts in town,” LaMar’s COO Matt Joslin said. “It’s about focusing on the people and communities that have made our business strong.”

Founder Ray LaMar began giving back to his community in 1960 through charitable partnerships and the company has continued his vision of community involvement through philanthropic works in the markets they serve.

LaMar’s Donuts has more than 70 Colorado employees at 10 stores and at their corporate office in Greenwood Village.
